Tree Description: Capsicum frutescens peppers are much more pungent than the C. annuum species and produce fruits that are erect and usually appear just above the foliage. A perennial hot bush pepper from India. High-yielding plants grow up to 1.7m tall. Produces attractive red peppers that are 2.5-5cm long. Plants can live several years if protected from frost.

Importance: These peppers are very spicy. They cook well and give a little kick to dishes, but when eaten directly can cause irritation to the mouth.
